Mom-to-be Anne Hathaway follows a parenting lesson from Kate Middleton: 'Speak to them eye to eye'

Anne Hathaway gave a sweet surprise in June 2026 when she announced she was expecting her third child. The Oscar-winning actress, 43, best known for iconic roles in "The Princess Diaries" and "The Devil Wears Prada," has been on an impressive career run with recent projects including "The Odyssey," "Mother Mary," and "The Devil Wears Prada 2."

In a recent interview, Hathaway opened up about her parenting philosophy and revealed a simple but powerful lesson she picked up from the Princess of Wales. "I remember reading that Kate Middleton makes a point to get down on her children's level and speak to them eye to eye," Hathaway said. "It stuck with me. It sounds so obvious, but when you're busy and tired, you tend to talk at your kids from above. That small act of kneeling down changes everything."

Hathaway, who already shares two sons with husband Adam Shulman, explained that the approach has transformed how she connects with her boys. "It forces you to slow down. You see their face, they see yours. There is no distraction. It is just you and them in that moment." She added that the technique is not just for discipline but for everyday moments like saying good morning or asking about their day.

The actress also reflected on balancing a growing family with a demanding Hollywood schedule. "I am learning that you do not have to be a perfect parent. You just have to be present," she said. "And sometimes, being present means getting on your knees and looking them in the eye."
