When Kevin Hart sat down for a recent interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the conversation naturally turned to fatherhood. Asked directly what kind of dad he is, the comedian did not give a rehearsed answer. Instead, he admitted that he has moved away from the strict, traditional methods his own parents used on him. He called that approach "old school" and said he does not rely on it anymore.
So what does he do instead? Hart says he focuses on communication and understanding. He wants his kids to feel comfortable coming to him with anything, even the tough stuff. He talked about the importance of listening first and reacting second. That means holding back the immediate lecture or punishment and trying to see where his children are coming from. He also mentioned that he tries to be more present, not just physically but emotionally, which he admits takes real effort.
The actor and father of four explained that the world is different now. Kids face pressures and information that his generation did not have to deal with. So he believes that a heavy-handed, authoritarian style just does not work anymore. Instead, he tries to build trust and respect through honest conversations. He still sets boundaries and rules, but he wants his kids to understand the why behind them, not just follow orders out of fear. It is a more modern, hands-on approach, and he seems genuinely committed to making it work, even when it is harder than just saying no.
