For years, Shruti Haasan had carried a fear that motherhood might not be possible for her. She had been told from a young age that PCOS could make conception difficult, a message that stayed with her and eventually made the subject of having children difficult to approach.
In a recent conversation, the actor and musician spoke about how that fear shaped her thinking. She admitted that the idea of becoming a mother felt distant, almost like something reserved for other people. The uncertainty around her health made her hesitant to even discuss the topic openly.
What changed, she said, was one doctor who reframed the conversation. Instead of focusing only on limitations, that doctor explained the possibilities and encouraged her to look at motherhood beyond biology alone. That moment, she noted, helped her see adoption as a real and meaningful path.
Haasan also spoke about her long-standing wish to be a parent. "I would really just love to be a mum," she said, describing the desire as simple and deeply personal. She explained that motherhood, for her, is not defined by a single route.
She added that conversations about PCOS often ignore the emotional toll. The constant warnings can create anxiety, she said, and many women quietly carry that weight. For her, learning to separate medical facts from fear has been an ongoing process.
The actor said she now feels more open about the future. Whether through adoption or another path, she is allowing herself to imagine a life that includes raising a child. That shift, she said, came from one doctor who chose honesty over alarm.
